Bruce Thompson discusses No Ordinary Neighbour, his account of a decades-long friendship in which Erwin Stahlberg gradually confessed his past as one of the last surviving members of the Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler. The talk explores themes of guilt, regret and shame, and how evil can take hold of the human psyche and society. It forms part of the Taunton Literary Festival programme at Brendon Books.
