About
In 1920s Taiwan, a woman hoping to escape her troubled past falls in love while another man struggles to buy freedom for a dying young woman.
Wang Tung directs this sweeping Taiwanese historical drama set against the hardships of 1920s colonial Taiwan. Two intertwined stories unfold: Jou, haunted by tragedy, attempts to rebuild her life through a new romance with Che, while Wei strives to purchase the freedom of the ailing Fumiko. Yang Kuei-mei and Wen Ying lead the cast in this lengthy, poignant period piece.
