Search for the Kingfisher

A guided two-mile walk through Jesmond Dene with NHSN Naturalist Matthew Harrison searching for kingfishers and other birdlife.

Naturalist Matthew Harrison leads an informal circular walk through Jesmond Dene looking for kingfishers, with likely sightings also including grey wagtail, goldcrest, redwing and ring-necked parakeet. The roughly two-mile route follows paved and uneven woodland paths with some inclines, and is suitable for complete beginners and experienced birders alike. Participants are asked to bring optics and suitable clothing; the walk runs approximately 10am to 12pm.
