About
Noriko’s unexpected choice unsettles three generations of the Mamiya family.
Yasujirō Ozu’s 1951 family drama follows the Mamiya household as Noriko makes her own decision about marriage. Presented in Japanese with English subtitles, it opens ICA’s Shohei Imamura retrospective with the film on which Imamura first worked as an assistant director.
