DCS Drama Presents: Hamlet

Dean Close School's drama production stages Shakespeare's Hamlet reimagined in a 1950s East End London jazz club.

Dean Close Drama presents Shakespeare's Hamlet transposed to a backstreet 1950s jazz club in London's East End after the war. A brooding Hamlet, too young to fight, watches his mother fall for his uncle while his father is away at the front; when his father returns and is found dead, he must uncover who is to blame and decide whether he is brave enough to take revenge. The tale of love, secrets and murder is threaded through with melancholic jazz. Performances run on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December at 7pm.
