About
Japanese improvisation collective Marginal Consort perform a three-hour immersive set at 180 Box as part of London Contemporary Music Festival 2026.
Marginal Consort, the Japanese improvisation quartet founded in the late 1990s by Kazuo Imai at Tokyo's Bigakko art school, give their first London show in over ten years. Kazuo Imai, Kei Shii, Masami Tada and Tomonao Koshikawa disperse across the Box and among the audience, using homemade instruments, electronics and objects in an expansive long-duration improvisation lasting around three hours. The performance is presented by London Contemporary Music Festival with promotional support from Cafe OTO.
