An Andalucian Evening with Al-Firdaus Ensemble
About
An evening of traditional sufi and Andalusi music by the Al Firdaus Ensemble, hosted by Kristiane Backer at Al Manaar in London.
Islamic Courses presents an evening of sama` — traditional sufi music from Andalus — performed by the Granada-based Al Firdaus Ensemble, founded by English violinist and singer Ali Keeler and featuring musicians from England, Spain and Morocco. Their repertoire blends Western classical, Celtic and flamenco influences with arrangements of Arabic, Andalusi and Turkish sufi songs, including poetry by Ibn Arabi and Al Shushtari and adaptations of aljamiado poems. The 2.5-hour event runs in person at Al Manaar with a live online streaming option, and is open to all with pre-booked tickets.
