The Farmer's Arms Gardening School 2026

A monthly hands-on gardening school at The Farmer's Arms covering seasonal skills from no-dig beds and seed sowing to pruning, preserving and winter prep.

Grizedale Arts runs this monthly gardening school at The Farmer's Arms in Lowick Green, with each Saturday session (10am–3pm, including a 45-minute lunch break) teaching practical seasonal skills for gardens of any size. Topics progress through the year: spring covers bed preparation, seed sowing and herbaceous planting; summer sessions tackle watering, pests, compost and biodiversity; autumn and winter focus on harvesting, storing, fruit pruning and making natural festive decorations. Sessions are for ages 16+, with tea, coffee and a snack afterwards, and tickets purchased cover all remaining sessions of the season.
