Display: Archaeology is Rubbish!

A free display at the Roman Baths examining how discarded everyday objects form the archaeological record, from Roman waste to modern plastic.

A display in the King's Lounge at the Roman Baths exploring how much of the archaeological record consists of discarded material rather than deliberate deposits, and what such 'rubbish' reveals about past lives, including diet. It also considers the future of archaeology, noting that plastic is already appearing in the record. Visitors can view the display free of charge by entering the Pump Room via the Stall Street entrance.
