About
A museum display at Dittons Library featuring finds from the 1960s–80s excavations of Oatlands Palace, Henry VIII's Tudor residence in Weybridge.
Elmbridge Museum's display at Dittons Library presents finds from the excavations of Oatlands Palace, the Tudor royal residence built by Henry VIII in Weybridge in 1537 and demolished in 1652. It covers the digs carried out by the Oatlands Palace Excavation Committee between 1968 and 1973 and again in 1983, celebrating the role of amateur archaeology. The exhibition offers an insight into life at the Palace during the Tudor era and can be viewed during the library's open hours.
