Generative: A Computer Art Documentary
About
A V&A-exclusive cut of the documentary Generative is screened alongside the Vera Molnar exhibition, followed by a Q&A with the film’s director and producer and curator Melanie Lenz.
Generative traces early computer art through archive material and interviews, connecting experiments with code, chance and machines to artists working today. Filmmaker Ben Spilling created a special cut for the V&A in connection with Degrees of Disruption: Vera Molnar and Generative Art. The screening is followed by a Q&A with the film’s director and producer and V&A digital art curator Melanie Lenz. This is a distinct V&A programme with a special cut and live discussion, rather than a generic cinema screening.
