About
Published in 1922, The Waste Land is built from classical and cultural references and reads as a response to the loss and desolation that followed the First World War, while also carrying humour and a sense of promise. This one-night event opens with a contextual introduction to the poem and to T.S. Eliot from Nathaniel Parker and director Giles Taylor, who have appeared together in Stratford, Chichester, London and on Broadway. Taylor then leads a discussion of the references the poem is built around.
