Autumn Tree Walk on Barnes Common
About
A roughly two-kilometre walk explores older trees and their care, with poetry prompts about ageing, community and the wisdom of elders.
The walk combines observations about protecting older trees with poetry prompts about ageing and the place of elders in a community. It begins near the Pavilion at Vine Road Recreation Ground and is planned to suit older people and people living with dementia. It covers mixed paved and unpaved paths; people using mobility aids are asked to contact the organiser in advance so the route can be adjusted. Sturdy waterproof footwear is recommended. Dogs are excluded except guide dogs. The walk’s end point and duration are not stated. Entry is free through a Richmond Climate Action Microgrant.
