Discovering Chinese Traditional Performing Arts

Participants explore Peking Opera, Chinese sword dance and fan dance through demonstrations and practical activities led by Wei He, Minlu Liu and Yuanyuan Yang.

The 90-minute workshop moves through three half-hour sessions: Peking Opera, sword dance and fan dance. Participants can try movement and rhythm exercises and learn how gesture, voice, music and stylised movement bring Peking Opera stories to life. No prior dance or performance experience is required. The published room is 253 in the Richard Hoggart Building.
