American Revolution: 250 Years from the Declaration of Independence

A free Treasures Gallery display exploring the making and enduring influence of the Declaration of Independence through the British Library’s collections.

The four-case display follows the Declaration’s creation through writings, letters, maps and other documents held by the Library. It also traces the document’s influence on later debates and civil-rights leaders, including Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr. The exhibition is presented in the Sir John Ritblat Gallery and can be visited during regular building opening hours.
