Meet the Volunteers

STEAM's volunteers guide families around the museum and offer access to locomotive footplates, including Caerphilly Castle and King George V.

Meet the Volunteers is a family activity hosted by the museum's volunteers, who share what it was like to work on the Railway while guiding visitors around the museum. Participants can get onto the footplate of locomotives including No.4073 Caerphilly Castle, No. 3717 City of Truro, No. 6000 King George V and No. 2818. The activity runs on selected Saturdays in 2026 and is included with admission, with no booking required.
