Material Memories: Reshaping the Token
About
A free two-hour textile brooch-making workshop for 18-30s, turning fabric scraps into wearable tokens inspired by the Foundling Museum's collection.
Designed by students on Central Saint Martin's BA in Culture, Criticism and Curation, this hands-on workshop invites participants to create personalised textile brooches from reclaimed, vintage and recycled fabrics, ribbons and buttons. The session is inspired by the Foundling Museum's collection of fabric tokens, which will be explored during the workshop. Artist facilitator Caroline Ip, working with Assemblage Collective, provides step-by-step guidance, and no previous art experience is needed. The workshop lasts two hours and participants are asked to bring a small piece of scrap or salvaged material of their choice.
