The Lightbox Exhibitions - Mia Fernandes

An exhibition of Mia Fernandes' photography reimagining combat sports imagery through female kickboxer Fern Jansz with a contemporary femme-coloured lens.

Photofusion presents 'The Space Between Strikes' by photographer Mia Fernandes, displayed in The Lightbox at Brixton Recreational Centre. The work reimagines the visual language of combat sports, centring female kickboxer and stuntwoman Fern Jansz and challenging traditional representations of fighters by balancing power with female athleticism. Fernandes is a member of Photofusion's Creators Studio, which supports early-career photographers with access to kit and exhibition opportunities; the exhibition is in partnership with Lambeth Council and Active Lambeth.
