Introduction to Mosaic with Joy Parker
About
A one-day workshop where participants make a small mosaic tile design, learning cutting and grouting techniques with mosaic artist Joy Parker.
Joy Parker leads a hands-on mosaic-making day in which each participant creates a small mosaic to take home. Two designs are on offer: a geometric pattern inspired by the Peebles war memorial, which works as a pot stand, and a snowdrop design celebrating the coming of spring. Joy introduces mosaic-making methods and teaches how to cut vitreous glass tiles with wheeled nippers, staying on hand to help throughout. After lunch she demonstrates grouting, and participants take home a bag of grout to finish their piece the following day. Tea and coffee are included; attendees bring their own lunch.
