About
In 1902, three generations of Gullah women on South Carolina’s Sea Islands weigh leaving their ancestral home for the mainland.
Julie Dash follows the Peazant family as they face a choice between migration and staying rooted in their community. An unborn child and ancestral voices widen the story into a lyrical meditation on memory, heritage and generational change.
