EOS: David Hockney: A Bigger Picture
About
A commemorative rescreening of the 2017 documentary David Hockney: A Bigger Picture following the artist's death in June 2026.
Cranleigh Arts is rescreening the 2017 documentary David Hockney: A Bigger Picture to commemorate the artist, who died on 11 June 2026 aged 88. Directed by Phil Grabsky, the film features in-depth interviews with Hockney in conversation with Tim Marlow, exploring his landmark Royal Academy exhibitions A Bigger Picture (2012) and 82 Portraits and One Still Life (2016). It covers his return to Yorkshire to paint the changing seasons, his experiments with iPad drawings and multi-screen video, and the disciplined three-day portrait sessions behind his 82-painting series. Commentary comes from art critics Martin Gayford and Jonathan Jones and curator Edith Devaney.
