Mohamed Errebbaa & Tagna Groove
About
Moroccan Gnawa master Mohamed Errebbaa leads his six-piece band Tagna Groove in a night of trance-rooted grooves fused with funk, jazz and afrobeat.
Mohamed Errebbaa, one of the youngest recognised masters of the Gnawa tradition, brings his six-piece ensemble Tagna Groove to The Jam Jar. The performance centres on the guembri, the three-stringed bass lute, blending hypnotic Gnawa polyrhythms and Sufi-inspired trance with UK jazz, funk, soul and afrobeat. The project grew out of an Arts Council-funded effort to carry traditional Gnawa music into contemporary international settings, promising a high-energy, dance-focused night. Entry is open to ages 14 and over.
