Fiddling With History
About
Violinist Emma-Marie Kabanova performs a programme tracing the shared roots of folk and classical music, from Niel Gow and O'Carolan to Bach and Tartini.
Violinist Emma-Marie Kabanova presents Fiddling with History, a journey from palaces to taverns celebrating the music that brought people together three hundred years ago. The programme pairs traditional melodies by Niel Gow, John Moorland and Turlough O'Carolan with works by Bach, Tartini and J.F. Rebel, showing how composers once borrowed tunes, rhythms and dance styles from the music around them. It also includes her own compositions inspired by the same spirit of storytelling, dance and melody. The event is seated, with doors opening at 1.30pm.
