About
Jonathan Meyer explores the documented furniture collection at Dumfries House, the designs of Thomas Chippendale, and related work by Scottish cabinetmakers.
The lecture examines the Thomas Chippendale furniture commissioned for Dumfries House and how it relates to the cabinetmaker's designs. Jonathan Meyer also considers commissions by William Crichton-Dalrymple, including work by Edinburgh maker Francis Brodie and his son William, later associated with Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, as well as the house’s rescue and restoration.
