The Liberation of Hecate
About
A feminist butoh dance performance by Iris exploring roles imposed on contemporary womxn, with sound by In Field Lines.
The Liberation of Hecate is a feminist butoh performance by Iris, created in collaboration with the sound project In Field Lines, the moniker of London-based artist Ethan Garrett. Taking the triple-formed figure of Hecate as an image of wholeness, the work unravels through completeness, multiplicity, fracturing and stillness, with audiences encountering statues, creatures and wild gardens growing from rubble. The piece fluctuates between extreme slowness and sudden, eerie movement, with resistance expressed through defiant stillness. Doors open at 7pm with the performance at 7:30pm, lasting about an hour.
