Faith Healer

The Royal Exchange Theatre stages Brian Friel's masterwork Faith Healer, directed by Emma Baggott in the round.

Brian Friel's 20th-century play Faith Healer explores faith and doubt, illusion and reality, and deception and genius through relationships that shift between reliable and ruinous. The production probes what happened on a fateful August evening at a pub in Ballybeg, blending poetic storytelling with corroding morals and fragile self-belief. Director Emma Baggott brings a Welsh perspective to the play's Celtic storytelling tradition, staged in the Royal Exchange's in-the-round auditorium. Performances run from 20 March to 18 April 2027, with captioned and audio-described options.
