Theatre Tours
About
A guided backstage and front-of-house tour of Lancaster Grand Theatre, England's third oldest continually operating theatre, lasting about an hour and a half.
Visitors are invited on a guided tour of the third oldest continually operating theatre in England, originally built in 1782 during the reign of George III and rebuilt in 1908. The tour covers the ornate auditorium and the hidden world behind the curtain, including the chance to stand on the stage, and recounts the people who ran the Grand over the years and who has appeared there. Tours start from the foyer coffee bar and last approximately one and a half hours; they only take place if some places have been pre-booked for that date. Certain parts of the Grade 2 listed building are accessible only via steps or stairs.
