About

A winter light trail through Lowther’s gothic castle ruins, gardens and woodland, with illuminated installations, music and festive refreshments.

The trail begins in the gothic ruins, then continues through the gardens and woodland to a view of the castle from the lawns. Festive food and drink, including mulled wine and hot chocolate, is served along the route, with marshmallow toasting at a fire pit. The event runs 16:00–21:00 on its published selected evenings; timed entry begins at 16:00 in half-hour intervals, with last entry at 20:00. The ticket is valid for daytime Castle & Gardens access before 16:00 on the booked date; the Lost Castle playground closes at 16:00 in winter. The trail is outdoors on garden paths, which can be uneven or muddy. Dogs are welcome.
