Rebecca Moss: Dream Machines

Rebecca Moss's exhibition uses moving image, collection objects and swan pedalos to explore the human fascination with machines, invention and automation, taking the Bowes Museum's Silver Swan automaton as its starting point.

The project began as a live performance in London's Olympic Park, where audiences gathered on swan pedalos for a lecture. In the gallery, film, objects and the pedalos themselves trace a playful line from one extraordinary swan to another, mixing humour and absurdity with questions about automation and mechanical life.
