What Rose from the Cut
About
A group exhibition at Graces Mews exploring feminist strategies of collage, curated with Fiona Rogers, Justine Kurland and Sarah Miller Meigs.
Graces Mews presents What Rose from the Cut, a group show examining collage as a feminist strategy, developed collectively with curator Fiona Rogers, artist Justine Kurland and collector Sarah Miller Meigs. The exhibition draws on two bodies of research: Rogers' publication Cut Out: A Feminist History of Photo Collage, Montage and Assemblage, and Kurland and Miller Meigs' exhibition and publication The Rose. It brings together nearly fifty international artists — including Claude Cahun, Lubaina Himid, Martha Rosler, Linder, Giana De Dier, Stephanie Syjuco and Frida Orupabo — whose work uses collage to address colonial histories, queer possibility, resistance movements and reparative ways of seeing.
