This session of the Critical Hedonism(s) discussion group takes on the politics of the long-distance vacation. Against a backdrop of oil market shocks, overtourism and emissions concerns, participants consider proposed alternatives such as the staycation, expanded urban amenities and even speculative space-mirror microclimates. Critical Hedonism(s) is a free, open-to-the-public space for interrogating the politics of desire, meeting monthly to examine how pleasure is organised in culture and how it might be organised differently.
