Serpentine Handicap
About
A monthly 6,975m handicap running race around the Serpentine and Long Water in Hyde Park, with staggered starts so runners of all speeds finish together.
The Serpentine Handicap is a 6,975-metre (4.3-mile) race taking runners twice around the Serpentine and Long Water, starting and finishing near the boathouse in Hyde Park. Start times are staggered according to each runner's past performances, so fast and slow runners alike have a chance of winning and all finish at roughly the same time. Registration runs from 8:30am to 8:55am near the boathouse, and runners are invited to join the club in the cafe afterwards. The Tom Hogshead Trophy and the Stratford Cup are awarded to successful participants.
