Carmina Burana Inspired

An intimate 60-minute choral performance of Orff's Carmina Burana by the Allwood Choir under Ralph Allwood at St Albans Cathedral.

A chamber-scale performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana at St Albans Cathedral, directed by conductor Ralph Allwood MBE and performed by the Allwood Choir with two soloists, live pipe organ and piano. The 60-minute programme follows the cantata's traditional three-part structure — Spring's Awakening, The Tavern and The Court of Love — framed by a prologue and epilogue, in arrangements newly adapted for the space. The work sets 24 poems from the medieval Codex Buranus, opening with O Fortuna.
