Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn
About
A world-first exhibition at Hever Castle gathering the largest ever display of portraits believed to depict Anne Boleyn, with visitors invited to examine the evidence and vote for her true likeness.
The exhibition brings together more portraits identified as Anne Boleyn than have ever been displayed together before, including a newly identified contemporary image unveiled for the first time. Developed from research by Hever Castle historian Dr Owen Emmerson, it traces how Anne's image has changed over 500 years and presents new scientific findings about the castle's famous 'Hever Rose' portrait. Visitors can examine the evidence and vote for the likeness they believe best represents Henry VIII's queen. The display is staged across the Staircase Gallery, Book of Hours Room, Long Gallery, Council Chamber and a specially created exhibition space in the former Astor Suite.
