1984

Box Tale Soup perform their award-winning puppetry adaptation of Orwell's dystopian classic 1984 at Harrogate Theatre.

Box Tale Soup present a new stage adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, using their distinctive puppetry as a metaphor for the novel's vision of surveillance and control. The 100-minute show follows Winston Smith, a small cog in the Party's machine who dares to dream of freedom in a world where Big Brother watches everything. The production features recorded voices from Sophie Aldred and Joanna Lumley, with Simon Russell Beale as the voice of Big Brother, and was an official sell-out at Edinburgh Fringe 2025. Recommended for ages 14+, with under-16s accompanied by an adult.
