Charpentier's David and Jonathan

This is a staging of the opera David and Jonathan by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, a dark jewel of the Baroque repertoire.

The opera is a biblical tragedy set in a war-torn environment where love and duty collide. It follows David, Jonathan, and Saul caught in a destructive web of desire, politics, and paranoia. The production features a new English translation by Christopher Cowell and is staged by the creative team behind NSO's The Silver Bell and The Dragon of Wantley.
