About
Guildhall Library exhibition tracing how cheaply printed broadsides carried news and opinion around London.
From the sixteenth century onwards, broadsides were pasted across London carrying news, satire, songs, advice and official announcements. The exhibition follows the form from political comment to legal notice and considers how a cheap printed sheet addressed readers across the social scale.
