About

A live-captioned introduction to the Castle’s 2,000-year history, followed by Q&A and a guided route through the Roman vaults, Temple of Claudius foundations and Great Stairs.

The tour finishes in the first-floor galleries. A pre-recorded captioned video covers the underground section where Wi-Fi is unavailable. Suitable for ages 8+ and aimed primarily at adults; uneven stairs, low archways and uneven floors make the route inaccessible to some visitors. Live captioning is provided by Stagetext. Each session runs approximately 15:00–16:15; event tickets are after Castle admission. Standard Castle admission is adult £13.95, child 4–16 £8.50, student/reduced £11.95, family saver £36.50; under-4s free with an adult.
