Book Launch: The Blood Libel by Furio Jesi, Alberto Toscano with Esther Leslie

A book launch for Furio Jesi's The Blood Libel, newly translated by Alberto Toscano, who will discuss the book in conversation with Esther Leslie.

MayDay Rooms hosts the launch of The Blood Libel, a 1973 study by Italian scholar of myth Furio Jesi, published in English for the first time by Wirklichkeit Books in Alberto Toscano's translation. Toscano will be in conversation with Esther Leslie. The book examines the 1840 Damascus affair, an anti-Semitic ritual murder accusation, alongside modernity's projection of fears onto the figure of the vampire, using Jesi's concept of the 'mythological machine' to analyse myth's entanglement with exclusion and domination.
