Copy That – Karel Klíč – Art for All
About
A free exhibition at Lancaster's Storey Gallery marking 100 years since the death of printing pioneer Karel Klíč, with artefacts and contemporary artist responses.
Mirador Arts presents this free exhibition about Bohemian-born Karel Klíč, who lived and worked in Lancaster in the 1890s and pioneered the intaglio rotogravure photo-mechanical printing process that brought reproduced art to the masses. Artefacts, paintings, documents and illustrations gathered from the UK, Europe and America tell his story, alongside contemporary responses to the theme of copying by five artists including Lela Harris and Ginny Koppenhol. The exhibition runs Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 6pm and later transfers to Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery from January 16 to March 6, 2027.
