Wealth Inequality in a Heterogeneous-Agent Stock-Flow Consistent Model
About
A PEGFA research seminar in which Rafael Wildauer presents a paper modelling the structural drivers of UK wealth inequality using a disaggregated stock-flow consistent macroeconomic model.
Part of the Centre of Political Economy, Governance, Finance and Accountability (PEGFA) seminar series, this session features Slot 1, a paper by Rafael Wildauer co-authored with Karsten Kohler. The paper builds a stock-flow consistent macroeconomic model with heterogeneous households to examine four mechanisms generating wealth inequality, including differential saving propensities, class-based access to private business equity, wealth-dependent risk aversion and unequal borrowing costs. Calibrated to UK household data, the model also evaluates the distributional and macroeconomic effects of various income and capital taxation interventions. The event is in person with an online Teams option, and is open to the public with booking required; the seminar runs 5pm to 6:30pm.
