About
A nautical-themed evening of sea shanties, rum rations, a naval quiz and knot-tying contest commemorating HMS Pickle's Trafalgar voyage.
Pickle Night commemorates HMS Pickle, the Royal Navy schooner that carried news of the Trafalgar victory and Nelson's death back to England in 1805, with the modern tradition dating to the 1970s as an informal counterpart to Trafalgar Night dinners. The evening features sea shanties from the Selsey Shanty Men, a rum ration, a naval quiz on ships, sailors and maritime history, and a knot-tying contest. Guests are encouraged to attend in sailor-themed fancy dress.
