After the US Midterms: What the Results Mean for America and the World
About
A parliamentary discussion will assess what the 2026 US midterm results mean for the balance of power in Washington and for US relations with the UK, Europe and the wider international system.
Hosted by Leiden University and the Foreign Policy Centre, this discussion considers the midterms’ consequences for Congress, the rest of the presidential term and the 2028 election, as well as US policy toward allies, international institutions, trade, security and democratic norms. It is chaired by Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, with speakers Dr Andrew Gawthorpe, Kevin Maloney, Laurel Rapp and Professor Mel Bunce. The published venue is the Palace of Westminster; the specific room is not stated. RSVP instructions request a full name, job title and organisation.
