William Kentridge: A Nicely Built City
About
William Kentridge presents a new animated film alongside drawings, sculpture and works on paper exploring Johannesburg and his production of L’Orfeo.
The exhibition brings the twelfth Drawings for Projection film together with charcoal drawings tracing its making. Images of urban damage and environmental change move between Johannesburg’s streets and the home of Soho Eckstein. A second group of works draws on Kentridge’s production of L’Orfeo, including composite ink drawings, a Pepper’s Ghost installation and six sculptures made with costume designer Greta Goiris. Viewing follows the gallery’s published London visitor hours; no opening reception or individual screening times are announced in the captured exhibition body.
