The Neuroscience of Adverse Childhood Experiences
About
A Seed Talks lecture by Dr Jeffrey DeMarco on how adverse childhood experiences shape the developing brain and adult wellbeing, with a Q&A.
Dr Jeffrey DeMarco, a chartered forensic psychologist and Senior Technical Advisor at Save the Children UK, explores how adverse childhood experiences such as neglect, abuse and chronic stress can alter the developing brain and shape emotions, learning, memory and decision-making into adulthood. Drawing on neuroscience, he examines the role of early environment in long-term wellbeing and how support and resilience can help the brain heal after trauma. Doors open at 8:15pm with the talk starting at 8:30pm, followed by a Q&A. The session is aimed at adults aged 18+.
