Rehearsed reading of The House of Bernarda Alba

Michael Reilly directs a script-in-hand reading of Federico García Lorca’s drama in a new translation.

In Spain in 1936, Bernarda Alba tries to control the lives of her five unmarried daughters after her husband’s death. Desire, jealousy and social expectations strain the household. The advertised translation has not previously been performed; its translator and current readers are not named. Age guidance is 14+, with a suicide content note.
