Faber Academy: Writing Day with Sarfraz Manzoor

A one-day Faber Academy workshop at The Common Room where journalist Sarfraz Manzoor teaches the skills needed to write for newspapers, magazines and online publications.

This full-day Saturday workshop condenses Sarfraz Manzoor's three decades of journalism experience into a single session on writing for newspapers, magazines and online publications. The morning covers coming up with ideas, structuring feature and opinion pieces, interviewing and developing a unique writing voice. In the afternoon participants put this into practice with writing exercises, close reading of contemporary features and a guide to pitching to commissioning editors, before the day closes with a Q&A about Manzoor's career.
