About

A free retrospective exhibition at Williamson Art Gallery exploring Paul O'Grady's life and archive, from Lily Savage costumes to personal collections, opening in December 2026.

The Paul O'Grady Story opens at Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead on 4 December 2026 and runs into late 2027. Drawn from Paul O'Grady's private archive, it features original Lily Savage and pantomime costumes, rare footage, scripts, photography and oral histories documenting LGBTQIA+ activism, plus his personal collection of objects, figurines and puppets. The exhibition is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and produced by Wirral Council with Andre Portasio, Switchflicker and DuoVision, and will be accompanied by a year-long public programme of talks, music, performance and cabaret.
