Talking Social Work
About
A University of Dundee talk examining what the Gen Z female mental health crisis could mean for the future of social work and similar professions.
This session, organised by Kathryn Young of the University of Dundee, asks what the Gen Z female mental health crisis might mean for the future of social work and the professions. It draws on a University of Dundee survey reporting poor well-being and high rates of diagnosed mental illness among young women, and discusses how this could affect a workforce in which 82% of Scotland's social workers are women. The talk proposes a shift from 'victim feminism' to 'power feminism' and is aimed at students and practitioners across a range of disciplines.
