Eden Camp Modern History Museum: Walk Through Wartime Britain
About
A WW2 museum in an original prisoner of war camp in Malton, with 21 immersive wartime exhibition huts open daily.
Eden Camp Modern History Museum occupies the site of POW Camp 83, built in 1942 outside Malton to hold Italian and later German prisoners. Visitors explore 21 original wartime huts, each recreating a different aspect of Britain at war with authentic exhibits, sights and sound effects, including an immersive Blitz raid in Hut 5 and a reconstructed First World War trench in Hut 11. Displays cover the home front and war front, from women's wartime roles and the Bevin Boys to armoured vehicles in the Heritage Hall. The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm, and visitors are advised to allow three to four hours.
